Changes for the Fall Semester 2025:

As you might have heard, there is a reform going in within the physics lab. Quite some things will change for fall semester 2025:

  • Fixed 2 week slots: Every experiment (with some exceptions) will be handed out for 2 weeks
  • Signing up via Webtool: Students sign up via a webtool and "book" an experiment for these two weeks. They can do this at the beginning of the semester.
  • Mandatory Monday for TAs: Every TA has to be in HPP on Monday either in the morning (~10 - ~12) or the afternoon (~14 - ~16). There will be a dedicated TA room (with a coffee machine and sofa!). The goal is that we (physics lab responsibles) can find you on a Monday and discuss bilaterally things if needed. Also the students know that you will be here for sure. To compensate for this, there is no general TA meeting during the semester
  • Changed responsibility: The physics lab 1, 2 & 3 is now run by Andreas Eggenberger. He's responsible for all 3 courses, and for the P+.
  • Moving ASL to IGP: The ASL experiments are converted into the new category if InGroup-Projects (IGP). They are under the responsibility of Seva Gvasalija.

Dates and Times

The labs are open daily from 8am - 6pm, so the labs are not closed on Thursdays anymore! Students and TAs can enter the labs on these days with their ETH-card (CardLink-System).

Mandatory Monday

On Mondays, the TAs are expected to be in HPP. Either in the morning (10am - 12am), or in the afternoon (2pm - 4pm). Students know that the TAs are around then, and can come by for questions (as well when questions regarding the report should be discussed). Additionally, the technical team will know where to find you and can discuss problems/questions. There is a dedicated TA room in HPP G 21 where you can also be with your students and have a discussion.

Introductory Meeting for TAs:

The TA Introduction Meeting takes place on Monday, 1st of September, 10am, HPP K25. Please let me know if you cannot make it to that meeting! Find here the preliminary slides (version 20 August 2025) of the meeting!

First Day in the Lab:

The first day you can expect students in the lab is Monday, 29th of September.

Experiment Assignment:

You can find a table with the Experiment Assignment (version 20 August 2025) here.
